2) Unique link with Nutrigenomic supplements. We offer a range of patented Nutrigenomic supplements. These are supplements developed to alter gene expression - alterations in gene expression are normal and happen on a daily basis in reaction to everything you encounter. Nutrigenomic supplements contain specific phytonutrients capable of altering gene expression in a powerful way, specifically designed with a specific goal in mind, like athletic performance or general health.
Not only research evolves continuously, so do we. We are constantly updating our dashboard to give you the best and top of the market insights in your DNA. We have recently implemented an advanced feature that provides you with an even more personalised report that links your DNA results to your goals en actionables summarised in your epigenetic dashboard.
Obesity risk: Find out if you are more likely to eat high-calorie foods and thus increase the potential risk of obesity.
Risk for gluten sensitivity: Celiac (or coeliac) disease is an autoimmune disorder in which gluten causes damage to the villi in the small intestines. There is not one specific genetic variant that causes everyone who carries it to get celiac disease. Instead, there are genetic variants that must be present in order for a person to be susceptible to celiac disease.
Gut health: Do you have an increased need for intestinal support? There are common genetic variants, which can lead to an increased need of HMO's for a healthy intestinal flora. This panel shows you if your gut could use some extra support.
Sleep quality: Sleep quality is defined as one’s satisfaction of the sleep experience, integrating aspects of sleep initiation, sleep maintenance, sleep quantity, and refreshment upon awakening. Sleep is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors and genetic factors are believed to play a role in many sleep disorders.

Endurance or Power: The ratio of muscle fibers in your muscles may determine whether you have a genetic predisposition for endurance sports, strength sports or maybe you excel in both.
Fasted training: Some people feel less good when they train fasted. In extreme cases, it is even inadvisable to train fasted. This panel gives you a maximum estimated time that fasted training can be used.
Building muscle mass: Find out if you have the Hercules gene. This genetic variant will make you build muscle mass way faster and more easily once you do strength training than other people.
Training loadability: Are you at risk of becoming overtrained? How much training load you can handle depends on the extent to which your body can deal with oxidative stress that may disrupt the redox balance and thus your body's resilience.
Injury sensitivity: Injuries are unfortunately part of almost every sports discipline. Especially tendon and other soft tissue injuries are common in all levels of sports activities. By identifying the genetic risk factors, better prevention and treatment therapies can be defined.
And many more...
Lactose (in)tolerance: Do you have the potential genetics for digestion of lactose in adulthood? This panel provides more information about your likely genetic predisposition to lactose (in)tolerance.
Protein metabolism: Learn if your body may have problems breaking down byproducts from protein metabolization. This insight can help you choose whether a low-carb or ketogenic diet may be healthier for you.
Vitamin D metabolism: A vitamin D deficiency is quite common and mostly caused by limited exposure to sunlight. Beside that there are common genetic variants in vitamin D metabolism which can also contribute to a functional deficiency.
Iron metabolism: Do you have a higher need for iron because you absorb less iron than someone else? Or are you at risk for haemochromatosis?
Omega 3 metabolism: There are three types of omega 3 fatty acids that are most important for the body: ALA, EPA and DHA. DHA is essential because brain cells, among other things, are formed from this fatty acid. Our bodies are able to convert ALA into EPA and EPA into DHA. However, for many people this conversion is not optimal. Can you convert ALA into DHA? Can you get enough omega 3 from nuts and seeds or do you need more algae, krill or fish in your diet?
And many more...
Protein supplementation: Which protein supplement is the best for you? Is it good to take diary protein or even better to take plant-based protein?
Fructose (in)tolerance: Fructose tolerance is very important to be able to absorb a 2:1 ratio (glucose/fructose) in the body. This panel provides more information about your likely genetic predisposition to fructose (in)tolerance.
Creatine: Are you a creatine responder or not?
Caffeine: Does caffeine have an effect on your strength or not, does it have endurance enhancing effects or not, does it give you mental benefits or not?
HMO supplementation: There are common genetic variants, which can lead to an increased need of HMO's for a healthy intestinal flora.
And many more...
Gender: Your gender can influence several factors. For example, you may have a genetic variant that causes your stress neurotransmitters to be broken down insufficiently; these neurotransmitters are involved in mental health, and reduced breakdown can cause symptoms of burnout. As a man, you will most likely experience few consequences of this, but women on the other hand can experience more consequences. This is because estrogens are broken down by the same enzymes, which are given preference in breakdown as opposed to these neurotransmitters.
Age: Age can also make you more susceptible to certain health risks. For example the ‘salt sensitivity’ panel. A 20-year-old individual with an increased salt sensitivity due to a genetic variant will have less to take into account than a 65-year-old individual with an increased salt sensitivity, who might have to make some lifestyle changes.
Goals & interests: Indicate what your goals and interests are and we will give you an overview of the most important highlights and action points based on your DNA and questionnaire.
Level, type and frequency of sports practice: Some panels might be more important to you, if you practise sports intensively. Type of sport can also provide additional information here, for example; your muscle fibre type can tell you whether you might have more aptitude for endurance or power sports. Frequency can also reveal different insights, such as a genetic variant that causes you to recover more slowly. If you only train once or twice a week, you will most likely not experience any problems. If, however, you exercise at a high level and five days a week, you might be more prone to injury because you don’t recover fast enough. When you know this, it's something you can take into account for the future.
Diet: Your diet can also give you other specific insights. For example, you may have a genetic variant that causes you to absorb less iron. This will be no problem when your diet is a classic western diet, which provides more than enough iron, and you’ll probably not be affected by this. If you follow a vegan diet, however, there is a good chance that you will benefit from an iron supplement because an adjusted diet might still not be able to cover the deficit.
No, it's really easy and painless to do. You just collect some saliva with a cotton swab on the inside of your cheek.
For the best results, it is highly recommended not to eat, drink (except water), smoke or chew gum during 30 minutes before collecting saliva.
When the DNA kit arrives just read the instructions carefully before taking your sample.
The box in which the kit was sent shows a QR code and a link to dna.4gold.eu . Scan the QR-code with your smartphone or surf to the website.
Fill in the requested details to register your kit. After registration, you will be redirected to the instructions to successfully take your saliva sample.
Send us an email at DNA@4gold.eu and we will try to locate your sample. There are no guarantees that we can find your sample and link it to you with enough certainty. When not 100% sure, you will have to ask for a new DNA sample kit.
At this time, we can also analyse genetic data files from 23andme. You can find more information on this product page.
No, your DNA is fixed. Only gene expression can change over time. That is why the information in your raw genetic data file is still usable after many years. Keep it at hand if updates are available, because every day new scientific research emerges that provides new insights into genetics and nutrigenetics.
Your raw DNA datafile will be sent to you by email. Once we receive a response that you have received the files correctly, all files of your DNA will be removed. That’ s why it is important that you save the files properly. You can then upload this file in our DNA dashboard at dna.4gold.eu and view your results.
You have full control over your data. So you decide who gets access to it.
At 4Gold, only our specialists have access to your raw data file and DNA reports to check and validate your results. But as soon as we receive a response that all files have been received correctly and the video call has been made, all files of your DNA will be removed from our servers.
Yes! We have made a special dashboard for paramedics (doctors, physiotherapists, dietitians, trainers,...). They can create a free account and use the dashboard to securely acces the genetic data of patients (completely GDPR compliant). This way, they can discuss results with them or they can personalize certain services - for example, setting up a diet, interpreting a blood analysis or drawing up a training plan. Would you like to give your doctor, dietitian, trainer access to your data or are you a paramedic who would like to work with us or has questions about this? Please contact us at email@example.com.
After countless years of research, our research team has developed software that solves the main problem of most commercial DNA reports. They do not take into account the interaction between genetic variants. This may seem like a minor problem, but genetic variants can either reinforce or counteract each other. We have developed complicated algorithms to take the interaction between genetic variants into account.
