Maxime Renaux made his debut in the EMX125 class on his Yamaha in 2014. The following season he rode the full season in the EMX125 class, where he finished 3rd in the final standings. In 2016, Renaux competed in the EMX250 class, but was soon injured. Fortunately, he still got a nice crowning moment of this season in the GP of the Netherlands. Here he got to make his debut in the MX2 Motocross World Championship with a wildcard. In 2018 Renaux rode the full season again in the EMX250 class and he did manage to win the GP of Belgium.
When there was no competition in the EMX250 class, he sporadically competed in the MX2 World Championship. In 2019, Renaux made a full-time switch to the MX2 World Championship. That season, he finished a fine 7th in the final standings. The following season he won his first GP of his career in MX2 and finished third in the overall standings. In the 2021 season he became world champion in MX2. This made him compete in MXGP from the 2022 season.
